Maths tutoring for primary school children
Maths builds on itself, so one shaky idea can make everything that follows feel confusing. We use hands-on materials and plenty of talk to make the ideas visible, then practise until they stick. Children leave lessons understanding why, not just how.

Signs your child could use some support
- Counting on fingers for facts they should know
- Struggling with place value, or with bigger numbers
- Getting stuck on worded problems
- Saying "I'm just not a maths person"
- Racing ahead and needing more challenge
How lessons work
Every lesson is 60 minutes, one-on-one, with a registered teacher in your home or at your local library. In the first lesson your teacher gets to know your child and finds exactly where they're up to. From there, each lesson builds on the last.
After every lesson you get a short written summary, so you always know what was covered and how to help at home.
What we cover in maths
Number sense and place value
Understanding how numbers work, which makes every other part of maths easier.
The four operations
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, with strategies children can explain, plus times tables.
Fractions, decimals and measurement
Concrete materials first, then pictures, then numbers, so the ideas make sense.
Problem solving
Reading a problem, choosing a strategy and checking the answer, building persistence along the way.
Progress you can see
A summary after every lesson, and your schedule, summaries and invoices together in the family portal.
Lessons are taught by registered teachers across the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne's South East.

- What we covered
- Short 'a' and 'e' sounds, blending three-letter words, and reading The Big Red Hen.
- How it went
- Mia blended 8 of 10 words on her own and read the last page with lovely expression.
- For home
- Play "I spy" with first sounds at dinner. Five minutes is plenty.
Maths tutoring questions
Can you help with times tables?
Yes. We teach strategies that make the facts make sense, then practise them in quick, fun ways so they become automatic.
My child is good at maths. Can you extend them?
Absolutely. Extension lessons stretch capable children with richer problems and deeper thinking, rather than just moving them ahead.
Do you follow the Victorian Curriculum?
Our teachers know the Victorian Curriculum well and link lessons to what your child is learning in class, while working at the level that is right for them.
